Re: Happy Eid everyone!
First day (yesterday): There's the morning Solat Hari Raya that must be taken for anyone who's not sick, is past puberty and not menstruating. After that, we visit our relative's/loved ones' graves to pray for them to have a safe afterlife (I dunno if this is commonplace throughout the Muslim world, but we sprinkle flower petals and fresh water over the graves too).
After that, we pay a visit to our kampung (country) relatives to "strengthen our relations". This can take up to a full day, flitting in and out of house after house after house until you wish you can just lay down and sleep then and there. I did.
Second day (today): More house-visiting with an extra of a tahlil , a sort of prayer group wherein a group of people would gather together, sit in a large circle, and recite Quarnic verses to pray for everyone who is there and to everyone who has passed on. This year, we did it in my grandparent's cemetery under a large gazebo! Also, eating lots of Raya meals such as Lemang (rice cooked in hollow sticks of bamboo), Rendang (a very dry curry), and Ketupat (rice cooked in hand-woven palm-leaf "baskets").
Tomorrow, rinse and repeat.
