How old is this kid? Cause he looks 17 or 18.

Just googled it and he's 27! Which surprises me as much as it surprises you.

His character is that age, but he's 27. Here's what he actually looked like as a teen:

Tyler Hoechlin looks exactly the same! Is Derek around 25 (like the actor)? It seems like he should be, but apparently the show has never mentioned his age?

And Dylan looks mostly the same too, but wow have Posey and Sharman matured.

Someone captured the shot of Derek's driver's license from a S1 ep that said Derek's birthday was 11/7/88. However a couple things make figuring out his age from that not very straightforward. When S1 started, the timeline of the show was January of 2011. S2 finished out that school year (still 2011). Then when S3 started, supposedly in the fall of that same year, it was miraculously now 2013. A further wrench in the works is that we've recently learned that werewolves age differently than humans, so from all that, Derek's anywhere between 22 and 25.

Oh show.

I marathoned the whole thing so it's a bit of a blur for me, but it did always seem like episodes were happening right after the other. Skipping a year is a bit much! (I know continuity errors happen, but...that seems like something you would want to check before going with.)

I remember seeing tons of questions on tumblr about ages and the writer or creator (?) basically asking why everyone cares so much. I think he might've added that it might be mentioned later, but considering the "In human years" thing from Cora I'm going to assume TPTB either don't know or care. Hehe.
