I am currently in Denton, Texas on a research trip to check out some archives at a university!

I'm currently at a really awesome bar called Oakstreet Drafthouse. So go there sometime. It's in a house!

Anyway, what's some cool stuff to do in Dallas or Denton? In Dallas it helps if it's downtown or near a train station.

I'm already going to check out the Sixth Floor Museum, the art museum for a bit and the Perot Science Museum (yes, you read that right. Perot. Museum. I'm expecting pie charts).

Welp. I've been in Texas too long because all I thought about the full jeans was, "What else are we supposed to wear?"

True story: I was in a dry sauna a few weeks ago and it was like 146 degrees F. I'm sitting there with my mom and she's like " Damn, I'm sweating like crazy." We were in there for like 20 minutes and I barely broke a sweat. I guess living in dry heat for the last almost 9 years has got me used to it.

The only problem with all this dry heat in Austin is that it fucks up my sinuses. But, humidity fucks up my sinuses too, so I just think my sinuses are fucked.

ALSO I WEAR FULL LENGTH PANTS IN THE SUMMER AND BLACK SHIRTS, SO FUCK YOU.

I do too, but I want to die. I sweat like a motherfucker and generally feel like I'm melting. You would think that living in an environment like this would make one immune to the heat, but apparently that doesn't happen for everyone.

Yeeeeaaaaaah girl. I never wore shorts or sleeveless shirts when I lived in the Houston area. (Because I was embarrassed of my legs and arms, but that's another story.)

That's why I don't wear sleeveless shirts...I don't wear shorts because I'm usually too lazy to bother shaving my legs.

there's not a damn thing to do in Denton but DFW has some interesting stuff I guess... the museum of modern art is really great, for example. idk about what to do at night though lol. When I was a student there I mostly just stayed in at night.

Not technically Dallas, but there's a lovely park up in the metroplex area.

On the other hand, that would be outside during the day, and I don't remember if it's anywhere near public transportation (I only go up to Dallas about once every three years).

If you think it's hot now, you should have seen Texas two summers ago. Man, that was terrible.

(in all seriousness, I haven't been to Dallas in years so I don't know if it's there, but if you like you some sushi, there's a place near the train called Atomic Sushi that is probably some of the best I've had. Disclaimer: seriously, this was years ago, so if it sucks don't blame me)

Denton: Rubber Gloves. There's always some good live shows going on there and the bar is pretty swell.

Hoochie's Oyster House. Holy crap best seafood ever! And beer is just a dollar when the train whistle blows.

Dallas: The entire area of Deep Ellum is great for shopping, live music, and people watching. Especially on the weekend. Plenty of bars too. The best being the Boiler Room and Reno's Chop Shop (happy hour from 2-9)

Greenville Avenue for shopping and various restaurants. Same goes for McKinney Ave. and Mockingbird Lane. Check out Keith's Comics on Mockingbird. One of the best little comic shops in town.
