Huh. A secret about a youtube comment. Must have been pretty popular on Tumblr.

Well, the guy is John Green and he's (I can't believe I'm saying this) kinda an awesome person for the things he does on YouTube and in the real world so I'm not that surprised that there's a secret about him here on F!S.

If you don't mind, I can give you a few links to the videos in question.

http://youtu.be/SEUsNK8E52c : The video in question.

http://youtu.be/BhkbZ0J-o88 :Another video showing John and Henry cooking dinner.

The unbelievably awesome world history, biology, ecology, and literature videos he and his brother Hank does (They even made an unbiased video on Islam! That is definitely a plus).

Just so you know.

The father might be flattered by the comparison (no, I won't comment about the kid's opinion, he looks too young to understand Harry Potter).

I was horrified when I saw people making character-related comments on pictures of West Collins, so I know what you mean.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-11 04:32 am (UTC)(link)
Be as horrified as you like, you couldn't ask for a more perfect casting for a babyfied Castiel.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-11 04:34 am (UTC)(link)
I don't get what's so bad? I mean it's just a remark made in passing about the kid resembling a fictional kid as the commenter imagined him. That's about as harmless as it gets.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-10 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh my God, the resemblance really is uncanny!

(Anonymous) 2013-08-10 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)
My thoughts exactly.

I feel kind of awful.

[Picture is the screen-capture of a "Top Comment" by the user mustanglover12, which says "John and Henry are pretty much how I picture James and Harry Potter." on a YouTube video by the "vlogbrothers" in which John Green sings a lullaby to his baby. John Green is a man with rosy light skin, messed up short brown hair, wearing eyeglasses, a dark gray hoodie and is sitting down on a sofa-type of chair, and holding a baby who looks a lot like him, wearing a long-sleeved shirt with light gray and white horizontal stripes and denim pants.]

All of my friends think this comment is adorable. To each their own, and I get that it's just for fun, but it just bothers me. I don't mind fan-casting usually, but I guess I'm weirded out when kids are involved.

a lot of really invested john green fans scare me.

fandom has this weird sense of hero worship that tumblr only amplifies.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-11 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
It's because he's very interactive with his fans. They love his book, they love his opinions and his views, and to top it off he's very accessible and silly and doesn't take himself seriously.

I quite like him myself. I've never watched his vlog brothers stuff (other than a couple a friend has linked) but he seems like a genuinely nice and polite person. It doesn't hurt that his kid is literally the cutest child I've ever seen, and that John seems to be really fun and loving dad.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-11 01:02 am (UTC)(link)
I don't see what's wrong about it, it's a sweet comment. James's animal form is the main representation of protection and fatherly love in the series and it's a very powerful and emotional thing for lots of Harry Potter characters. To draw that comparison, I think, is just a nice thing to say to any father.

While people's obsession with celebrity's kids is often uncomfortable at best, I think this is fairly innocuous OP. You can relax.

hey they even have the same initials!

teen wolf trope that freaks me out

(Anonymous) 2013-08-11 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
there is a terrible fic where they find a baby Luca and take the baby back to it's pack and blah blah, It's supposed to be romantic but it reads like the worst kind of abusive boyfriend stuff. Derek keeps putting stiles ( a nineteen year old who passed up a chance to go to college and instead when to state school online so he wouldn't leave this bf / pack) in situations where stiles doens't know how to behave then BLAMING HIM FOR DOING THE WRONG THING. Like "i'm going to send you off to this werewolves house, be cool" and then "OH MY GOD STILES EV

it's terrible, it's like he's keeping him off balance so he can never get his feet under him to flee.

wrong secret

(Anonymous) 2013-08-11 01:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know who this bloke is but I don't like celebrities using their children to get attention. I always feel the child has no way of giving consent and may really hate it when they are old enough to realise.
