(Anonymous) 2013-08-10 09:49 pm (UTC)(link)Stuff on AO3, mostly. I'd be ecstatic for recs - I can literally think of only one ongoing multi-chaptered fic that is focused on Dean as an individual and isn't treating him as a function of another character.
It's not like he's always treated like a terrible character in those other stories. He's occasionally villainized to benefit someone else, but not always. It's just that he's also mostly there to react to someone else, particularly with regards to their suffering. He'll alternatively scowl menancingly at someone who dares threaten *his* Sam and/or Cas or feel guilty for not protecting them better or whatever, but he'll be playing a role in their story, not really acting as a character in his own right.
I'm serious about the request for recs, btw. I've read brilliant, wonderful Dean centric stories over the years, I just don't know of any that are ongoing right now except that one.
