Re: would you judge a man for using a prostitute?

I don't think that logic necessarily follows?

It's hard to track what the economics of legalized prostitution would be. I don't think the fair trade coffee comparison is a good one, because producing coffee is way different than prostitution. The reason fair trade costs more is because you have different mechanisms for processing, different mechanisms for growing, whole different supply chain, whereas it seems to me with prostitution, there are way fewer costs involved, and way fewer costs that are affected by legalization and normalization, and the main factor that would affect the cost is simply the person being able to make a decent wage. And I suspect that moving away from agencies / pimps / other things of that nature would counterbalance a lot of the price increase, since the person is taking more money home.

I do think the cost would be higher (although obviously it depends on what kind of prostitution we're talking about - call girls vs escorts, etc) but I don't think it would be higher to the point where it would be prohibitively expensive to an average person.

No, it's not hard to track at all. Prostitution is legal in many places - Germany, for example. Here is an article about legal prostitution in Germany.
