(Anonymous) 2013-08-11 06:58 pm (UTC)(link)I don't know if it's just because I'm older and have been in fandom for a long time, but I just don't dig the idea of being part of a culture where the author broadcasts their fic and everyone else has to either applaud or keep quiet and then go bitch about it in private. That doesn't make sense to me, as fandom is a peer movement. It ends up with secrets like this; people backbitching about unassailable BNF celebulikes because they're discouraged from saying anything less than 100% positive about their work in public.
