Holes is as close to perfect as a book-based movie could possibly get.

Fried Green Tomatoes is...in some ways better than the book. The book's plot wasn't as strong as the movie's (too many side plots/characters imo, kind of fell apart). But the movie tried to hide the gay relationship by pairing Ruth with Buddy which gave her and Idgie a really awkward age gap that bothered me even when I was little.

Man, the age-gap thing! So odd. But then, i had no real idea how old Ruth was supposed to be there.

I loved the f/f 'ship of FGT and didn't like that it was so downplayed in the movie.

Eee it makes me happy that someone else has not only seen it, but also had that issue with it.

And yeah, I still love it and it is there if you're looking for it, but I'll never get over them doing that. I get that they wanted a wide general audience but...man maybe they could've pushed boundaries and made an impact. (Or maybe it would've flopped and we wouldn't have it. Who knows?)

*I* twigged to it right away, since i saw the movie before i read the book, and was very happy it was more enlarged upon in the book but, yes....

I dunno - an f/f couple has always been 'easier' for the general mob to accept, so maybe it would have been fine.
