Getting together with friends to toss a ball around is fine. Nothing wrong with that. Organized, commercialized, idolized, fetishized sports are a cancer. We hates them, Precioussss.

Although having said that, the Olympics tends to include some of the few sports I actually do enjoy watching (chiefly those like figure skating that are as much art as sport.) I don't get why they require a lavish new stadium every time they come around, though, except maybe if some host countries don't already have enough large athletic facilities to accommodate them (is there any real reason in this age of instant tellecommunications why they have to take place in just *one* city anyway?)
