Fanfic writing buddies.

I've been thinking lately that it would be really useful to have a writing partner or a writing group to bounce fanfic ideas off of. Not a beta, and not somebody who's heavily invested in the ships I write - just intelligent, neutral people acting as each other's sounding boards at the plot-planning stage.

Do any of you guys do this? Does it work for you as a writing tool? If so, how did you find people to work with?

I don't at the moment - but that actually really helps me come up with ideas/flesh them out when I have someone to act as a sounding board. I'm not really sure how to find them other than saying 'HEY ANYONE WANNA?'

It's worked for me in the past but it can't just be any random person. I have to be at least kind of friends with them and they have to be enthusiastic about what I'm writing. It has to be natural.

My best friend and I bounce original fic ideas off each other - and often share characters since we have almost an entire universe based off their interrelationships.

I find it really useful because it gives me someone to talk to who knows what I'm thinking about, and who I can say, "Well what do you think would happen if X did/was this?" to. XD Subsequently, we've AU'd our own characters about a million different times.

We're also a good support system for each other; we both submitted short stories a few weeks ago and it was pretty much thanks to each of us boosting the other's confidence.
