But. Bunny was used in the German dub, I doubt anyone there made that sort of connection.

idk, you just made it sound like the translators were aware of that pun. I personally doubt they were that smart.

The English manga translators were because they are the ones who put it in there? I don't know about the German anime translators.

Didn't know they used that in the English manga version, but the German translators came up with it in 1995, so that pun went at least 3 years unnoticed. Poor thing.

French translators used the name Bunny too...
But hey, it's nice that the US ones didn't miss the occasion to add a pun with buns :P

Bunny was pretty much the obvious option to translate Usagi and keep the rabbit reference (with Bugs Bunny it's a pretty understood name even if it's English).

But I don't know why anon is being such an ass to you about it :P
Unless they're the German translator and want credit for the idea.

I really like the translation of Serena, mostly because even if Bunny is a direct translation, western culture (or, at least, Canadian/American culture) doesn't have a rabbit in the moon, but most of us studied Greek/Roman mythology in school.
