Wait, you can only ever know anything about the culture you were raised in, now? I'm not saying that every criticism is an informed or accurate one, but is it really so impossible for a person to do research on another culture until they get to a point where they can offer meaningful criticism? Or are we still, for instance, saying that FGM is an important cultural ritual and shouldn't be criticized?
