Oh, that's interesting. I'd heard it was closer to 50/50 but maybe that was just a way to take pressure off of women so that they wouldn't feel like they were making the wrong choice either which way.

Huh. Be pretty awful of someone to assume that women can't make up their own minds and try to mislead them with false statistics, in my book. The only reason I brought the statistics up was because OP (are you OP?) seemed to think they were doing something morally wrong, when in fact they're doing what most people would do in the same circumstances. It isn't evil or bigoted to state that children with these syndromes require a great deal more care than neurotypical children; it's just a fact. A woman who's prepared to/has the resources to look after a neurotypical child does not necessarily meet the requirements for a child who needs more care. As someone who's firmly pro-choice, I think that's each woman's decision to make for herself.
