Me neither. I guess people do it because anything popular with younger audiences is an easy target. There'll never be a shortage of people who agree with them, so they can snark without repercussion and feel superior at the same time. And then there's the people who think that being sad or struggling to deal with life in general and being helped by music is hilariously mockworthy on the internet-- as if this isn't something everyone experiences at one time or another. It's part of the human condition and growing up... but yet it's still okay to ridicule other people who make the mistake of admitting it in public while not listening to "acceptable" music for their coping mechanism.

In other words, people kind of suck sometimes.

Indeed. Well I'm 22 and I'm pretty jaded, but I can still appreciate that music can help people through shitty times in their life. Other mediums too, of course.
