Honestly, I feel the same way. Don't get me wrong, being under 5' myself, I love height differences in real life. It's just that age doesn't come across very well in anime, plus the fact that there's this strange fascination with prepubescent-looking girls. Hell, the whole Rie Kugimiya tsundere stereotype is basically childlike petulance stuffed into a 4'-something body (as pictured with Taiga). So I get exactly where you're coming from.
