go, and see what happens if you decide to just be an asshole right back at him. don't take that shit. maybe the rest of them have just been waiting to kick him out of the group but they need someone to be the leader.

Stand up to him, sure, but the OP shouldn't rely on the other people to do the same. They could as well take his side.

yeah that's why I said maybe? I don't see how it's relying on other people. they should stand up to him and then walk away with or without a group of friends who also can't stand him
