Well, no, but media conceptions of "strength" are usually tied in with "masculinity," and "masculine" women are usually portrayed as being lesbian -- which, frankly, is offensive to women of all orientations.

I'm not arguing that. But when it's phrased in way that comes off kind of 'THERE ARE NO STRONG STRAIGHT WOMEN ANYMORE!' it rubs me the wrong. Doubly so when the main franchise she's talking about has *never* had a LGTB character on it.

DA Agreed. And it's not like there's a glut of "strong" lesbian characters, hell, they are TERRIFYING to most straight people especially men. Any lesbian characters that do show up in mainstream entertainment must be super non-threatening girly, or somehow beaten down or criminal.
