Student Loans. Unemployment. Forbearances.

So I have been unemployed for almost a year. I have been trying to find jobs but I am just not getting call backs. I got one call back but I was too overqualified for the job (I have a BA). -__-

I have had my loans in Forbearance (reapplying twice for each loan, 4 loans) for most of that time. Before they went into Forbearance I paid them on time, every time. Some of my loans are about to come out of Forbearance and I still have not found a job. But I am worried they are going to deny it (also, I have weird anxiety about disappointing people, even my loan company).

A couple I can do online, but a couple I will have to mail (I don't have a fax machine). Anyone else dealt with this kind of situation?

My parents had to do this thanks to a bankruptcy (long story). In short, if you reapply and prove that you still have a hardship, I figure they'll extend the forbearance. I also recently found out that there's apparently limits to how long you can get forbearance, and it varies from lender to lender.

Either way, you need to call your lender and talk to them. I don't think they'll be disappointed in you, but rather sympathetic. Face it, you've already got a leg up over the people that just disappear and don't pay anything.

If there's a Staples in your area, they probably have a fax machine you can use.

You'll probably get approved for the forbearance, if you get all the information and paperwork in that they ask for. Good luck.

Any Mail Box type place will have a fax machine you can use.

Even if you can't get forbearance again, your loan provider may have options for income-based repayment plans. You'd be paying them back for a longer amount of time, but the amount you're expected to provide each month is adjusted based on what's reasonably affordable with your wages (or lack therof).
