It's both the shippers and anti-shippers, though I think the shippers have quietened down a lot from the initial backlash, and they have their comm. (I think when I originally wrote this secret before rewording it I saw 'don't like, don't read- weren't we taught that?') Fandom. Needs. To take a chill pill.

Honestly, I could have ranted about that fact myself but I have literally taken characters with no more basis than "you're a hot sex machine, you're underwritten and I love you, lets see if I can write smut with you both!" So I have no room to talk about it.

Hahh. I don't really have a problem with people writing crack pairings like that, though -- Like I said, the reason I dislike Hidan/Temari so much is just because of the people taking it seriously and its relative popularity. But I keep most of my WTF at it to myself, and to IM conversations with a friend, which is why I'm commenting anonymously.

You know, I'd be able to take your comment a lot more seriously if the fandom didn't consist of a grand total of 11 Hidan/Temari fics on ff.net and a tiny comm that's infrequently updated. I don't see a ton of activity around this 'ship, people writing ship manifestos about it, or making posts about it in chuunin: in short, I don't know where this idea that Hidan/Temari is an "overly popular" or "taken too seriously" ship is coming from. Most of it, I think, is due to the Hidan/Kakuzu fangirls being by and large a bunch of retards coupled with jealousy because firefly is a damn good writer and gets a lot of (IMO, well-deserved) attention for her stuff.

As the OP said in her secret, I also see a backlash against the 'ship that's way out of proportion to the actual size of the fandom and the fact that the Hidan/Kakuzu shippers feel so damn threatened by it hysterical and infuriating by turns, especially since so many of them write *and* draw Hidan/Kakuzu like it's some fucking hearts and flowers TWOO WUB relationship. The two of them hate each other's guts in the manga, and I fail to see how the vast majority of the Hidan/Kakuzu fandom writing them as something they are very much not is any better than the "crack" pairing of Hidan/Temari.

Or perhaps that's why the Hidan/Kakuzu 'tards are so damn vocal, because they know that their 'ship is, at bottom, just as much a crack pairing as Hidan/Temari...
