I actually laughed at that scene. My friend next to me was sobbing and I was trying to hide the fact that I was laughing at how OTT it was. I mean, in hindsight I felt a bit bad for the guy, but man...

The first time I saw it in the theater, I was all "OMG SNAPE NOOOO" *tears* The second time, I realised he was overacting and how silly his facial expressions looked.

The third time at home, I was stuck in the middle.

I just find it damn creepy. Like, I know she was dead, but she wouldn't have wanted him holding her like that when she was alive, so it still feels a little awkward and inappropriate. Not to mention the crying, devastated baby in the background.

In any case it didn't actually happen in canon.

Baby Harry crying in the background was disturbing. It wasn't a well planned scene imo. Snape came off as more pathetic than normal... which isn't hard, but still. I like Rickman as Snape, but I really side eye the direction he was given with his character sometimes.
