I leave in a strange halfway world where I never expect anything I ship to become canon, but I often end up fervently praying that TPTB don't give us anything that outright negates the possibility. I'm fine if the ship is left lost at sea, just don't sink it or show me the debris.

(TBH, mostly this boils down to hoping everyone stays alive and that enough information about the characters' backstory is left unstated that there's room to hide love stories the creators never intended in the gaps.)
