Wincest. Which, there really are people who think that is going to be canon...?

(Anonymous) 2013-08-18 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
ayrt

That's what I thought, but I didn't think there was anyone that deluded.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-18 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
There are plenty of fans who think it is canon. Shrugs. I admit I never saw in the early seasons before the boys became so majestically fucked up, but now... I have a love/hate relationship with the show, I really should quit it and the desperate screeching of the Destiel fans doesn't help.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-18 05:47 am (UTC)(link)
I can sort of see it. Like, do I think it'll ever be canon in the sense of them having sex onscreen, or even finding out that they've having sex all this time offscreen? No. But I do think that the relationship has been framed more like an epic romance than a familial one, and in that sense I can see considering it canon, even though I don't think it will ever be acknowledged as such in canon. If that makes any sense at all.

That's generally the Wincest argument, it doesn't need to be shown explicitly on screen - it's never going to be - but the subtext is consistent. The PTB have, on more than one occassion, called it the Epic Romance of Sam and Dean.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-18 06:31 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. Anything else is never going to happen, and that's totally fine with me. And honestly, I wish they'd just left it subtext. All the meta stuff with the book series and slash fans and everything (not to mention all the fanservice once Cas showed up) was/is just unnecessary to me.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-18 06:49 am (UTC)(link)
If I had a fandom secret it would be that I haaate the bloody 4th wall meta crap that other fans seem to find so amusing. Like "Jump the Shark", grits teeth just thinking about - it was actually a great episode but calling it that to show how hip to fandom Kripke was. AArggh, the self referential smug git. Ahem, yeah. The Destiel subtext is laid on with a laid on with a big obvious trowel and frankly Dean spent just as much time eyeballing Bobby whilst quivering his bottom lip. But nobody ships that. And if they do, I don't want to hear about it. My OTP, Sam/Angst.

But nobody ships that.

You're cute.

Of fucking course people do.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-18 05:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. I know. But they're not splooging all over fandom insisting it's canon, going to be canon or whining about societal norms and representation. Or something.
