The Headphone Game

[personal profile] morieris 2013-08-18 07:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, my beloved pair of Bose headphones crapped out on me (halfway - the right ear...bit is dead), and so I picked up some Bioworld ones from Hot Topic (Yay, DJ-P0N3!) .

They're okay - speech isn't that sharp though. What headphones or earbuds do you use?

JVC Marshmallow Earbuds. Because I go through headphones really quickly and these are cheap and work fairly well. http://amzn.com/B005FDOGKM

I use the new apple ones, with the odd shape to them. The sound is really good, but the cord frays/cracks really easily. I bought two refurb ones after my first store bought ones frayed, and they both already started. Not worth the $30.

IDK I really want good earphones but the cords always shit out on me. Maybe because I live in the desert it's too dry for it..?

The old ones broke easily but at least they were comfortable ):

I live in the desert too and I bought headphones that have replaceable cords. They cost like $150 but I've never actually had to replace the cord, and I've spent way more than that over the years buying the Apple ones.

I have these SOUL ones I really like. They sounded the same as the Bose ones to me, cost a bit less at full retail (I've had them a couple of years), and a lot of reviews said they last longer.

Skullcandy headphones when I am at home and smaller ones (earbuds) that I actually use most of the time don't have an name (or if they do, they cost like 5$) or the ones that came with my phone, depending on which pair I find first, they are both basically the same.

If you hadn't guessed, I don't really bother with quality sound, I usually listen to music through youtube on my phone so as long as I can drown out the noise on the bus/train I am happy.

Yup, same here. Skullcandy. [I just like the design, lol]

Except I don't use headphones anywhere but at home (or during really long trips), so I don't even need to drown out any noises.

Same re: Skullcandy, I bought the newish 50/50 ones which are supposed to be $50+ but were $25 on sale. I don't really like the foamy pieces it came with, but I have so many unused ones i can swap them out with.

I'm not using them right now, but I really enjoy Sennheiser headphones. Even the cheap ones sound REALLY good.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-18 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Same! Both my cans and my earbuds are Sennheisers, and I've had no complaints.

For the record, my cans are the Sennheiser HD 201s and the earbuds are Sennheiser MX581.

Skullcandy earbuds. They're pretty good for their prices, have very rarely ever broken on me, and come with an unlimited warranty so - even if they do break - you can send them back/get new ones for the price of shipping, which is only two or three dollars.

Re: The Headphone Game

(Anonymous) 2013-08-18 08:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Some shitty ones I bought at Walgreens, I don't really know.

Re: The Headphone Game

(Anonymous) 2013-08-18 08:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Haha....ditto on this, actually. They're the in-ear kind that actually have the buds/plugs from my previous set because they fit better in my ears than the shitty rubber ones these came with.

I have a pair of Sony MDR-CD180's. Yes they're as old as you think they are.

Because I'm a pathetic nerd, I have the ATH-EM700 clip-on earphones.
For winter, I also have the ATH-SJ55 headphones. I love them both a lot.

Since I don't like earbuds I have cheap JVC and Sony types, but I also have a pair of AudioTechnica M50s. I've also kind of been looking for a new pair, but haven't found anything I really liked.

I used to wear Skullcandy earbuds but since I got my tragus pierced, I can't wear them without discomfort so basically whatever's around.

Samsung in-ear bud things that came with my S3. I used to go through headphones at a disgusting rate - the cords are my mortal enemy apparently - but these have lasted a year so far.

I use the Audio technica ath-m50 when I'm at home. I'm no audiophile but I was amazed when I first got them not having bought any decent headphones before. I got them for a pretty good deal too for under 100.

Other than that though I use the new iphone headphones since my dad gave it to me for free.

JVC HA-S600 headphones (http://www.amazon.com/JVC-HAS600B-Around--Foldable-Headphone/dp/B003ZUXX3S/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1376863798&sr=8-1&keywords=jvc+ha+s600)- the quality is exquisite for the $30 price tag, let me tell you. They also fold into a nice, compact shape and (this may be widespread amongst headphones, idk, I just love it) the earpieces have "L" and "R" in braille on them. Good on you, product design person.

I've used Skullcandy, several different kinds - the sound is okayish but they generally look nice if you care about that. Ultimate ears by Logitech? I think? A little pricey for quality, but comfortable. But my favourites were Klipsch, they have really great sound and comfortable to wear but the wires don't last as long.

ATH-M50 (Audio-Technica), they're professional studio headphones. They're the ones I use for playing/recording, or for listening to my nicer music.

Then I just have regular old skullcandy earbuds for every day use, like walking to school/the store.

Some random Sony headphones with memory foam earpiece thingies.

I've actually been using them since last fall. Rare for me because my headphones tend to break in like a month regardless of price or brand.

I always have Skullcandy ones for my mp3 player because I like the colours and designs, also I kind of like the in-ear ear buds thing they do.
