I can totally sympathize, OP. Not quite the same boat, but I've been drawing people stuff for a "reblog and I'll draw you a character" tumblr post I made, and I can't stand it when they don't even like the post. You don't have to reblog it or even respond to the message notifying you. Just a like so I know you acknowledged my effort, that's all I ask. =_=

You have serious dedication. Even the posts I see that are like "Reblog this and I'll look at your blog and I'll tell you something I think fits you/I'll "give" you a pokemon egg/etc." just make me say "Man, I feel kind of bad for whoever's doing this."

People, on tumblr and elsewhere, are very ungrateful when it comes to stuff like that. And for you to be giving away drawings? That's guts. It takes a lot of work to make things for others, and to get no appreciation is a kick in the head.

What was your reason behind doing that? Just wanting to be nice?
(Sorry if anything in this post sounds aggressive, it's hard to convey tone-of-voice online.)

Aww, thanks man. This comment made me happy. ♥

I'm afraid my motivations are more selfish than that: I want to get better at drawing and I don't like drawing the same characters all the time, so I thought I could let people's blogs choose who to draw for me. Plus, it gives me something to do in class. But knowing I've made some people happy by doing it is certainly a nice bonus! C:

ugh yeah! I take requests for my comic and sometimes the people who request it don't even acknowledge and that makes me feel kind of bad :\

Dude, you offered a transaction. It wasn't a gift. It was do X and I'll do Y. That's not a gift or even a gift exchange.

Sounds like a gift exchange to me.
