Old games weren't hard; they were tedious. And that was both due to design limitations and due to the fact, if you weren't dying constantly, you'd finish them so quickly that they almost wouldn't be worth the money.

This is basically "when I was your age, I had to walk 15 miles through the snow, uphill both ways" for gamers.

There's a middle ground between tedious and the gaming playing itself. With the easy modes on modern games you have to try damn hard to lose.

... if you're a practiced gamer. There's such a thing as transferable skills, and if you've been gaming since X time, you probably have them.
