This season has been a mess all around tbh. Convoluted, not enough character development (esp of the newer characters) or explanations, seemingly forgotten plot points...idk, I know the other seasons had their issues as well, and while there are things I've liked about it, overall it feels like they just tried to do too much and failed. I'm hoping the second half of the season is better.

I'm also probably expecting too much from the show, to be quite honest.

I've got a friend who told me she likes this season more than the first two, but I don't think Derek is her favorite character like he is one of mine. It sounds like they've bitter off more than they can chew (lol) with the whole Alpha Pack plotline, but I expected that when they introduced it (like, why couldn't it have been a normal pack looking for new territory? Why some over-ambitious Super Pack?)

Derek is one of my favorites too, which is partially why this season was so painful for me. Not entirely, but it does factor into my opinion. Though tbh I don't think this has been a particularly good season for anyone...it was incredibly bleak and made everyone look and feel helpless, plus a lot of the characters were underused or had a lot of wasted potential.

I suspect the writers thought a normal pack wouldn't be ~dramatic~ enough, or as much of a threat. They wanted to keep raising the stakes, which I can understand, but I don't think they did enough with the alpha pack and they didn't come off as particularly interesting. (Threatening? Uh...sometimes, but most the werewolves of Beacon Hills can't handle themselves on a good day, so that isn't saying much.)

Still, I'm hoping this is it for most of them.

I think trying to up the stakes from the impenetrable god-lizard who could only be defeated by the power of love was a bad idea. It was about time to lower the stakes in that case, lol.

That said, like you, I do hope it gets better. Sigh. I guess it's about time to finally watch Season 3. Wish me luck, haha.

I like you.

And if I understand correctly, season 3 is actually 24 episodes long, so it's only (almost) halfway over. Still, it seems they've wrapped it up in a way where it feels more like a season finale than a mid-season finale.

I hope you like it! Maybe you'll be pleasantly surprised? ...IDK.

Good. Fucking. Luck. You're going to need it.

Though I have been wondering how the season would feel watching it marathon style. I just can't give enough shits to actually do so.

I haven't been into Teen Wolf long; I think the first episode I watched live was 3x08. I marathoned up to there and let me tell you, it was not fun getting to season three. I genuinely enjoyed the first two seasons despite the flaws, and I have liked some of three, but the feel of the show did shift this season, and I've liked...very little that they've done with the storyline or characters.

It didn't hold up the same, for me. (Probably because of the whole 'feeling incomplete' thing.)

I feel like for every episode this season that we saw we were missing one and a half episodes.

It does feel like huge chunks of this season happened off screen. Character development, relationship development, lots of things. Just stuff that was mentioned then never followed up on, or things that suddenly happened that made no fucking sense without any further back-story. IDK, maybe my vision of the third season is fairly skewed, but...it didn't do much for me.

The third season was pretty flawed. I don't know that it was worse on a whole than the first two, which were also pretty flawed, because it was messed up in different ways. I feel like they did a far better job with Scott this season (or at least I no longer wanted to sleep through all of his scenes) and I'm thrilled I didn't have to watch a single lacrosse game, but on the other hand...

There's the big ????? that's Cora. There's anyone believing a damn thing Peter has to say. There's the frankly gross treatment of Boyd. The BAM they're a couple of Danny/Ethan and Lydia/Aiden, so many unanswered questions and, ugh, IDK. At this point I'm less than enthused about the finale and/or 3b.

It felt worse but at this point I'm kind of biased against it. At any rate I certainly enjoyed it less; there wasn't much actual 'fun' this season, which is one of the reasons I like the show so much.

I agree that Scott is coming into his own but imo part of that is his breakup with Allison. When those two are together they barely feel like individuals at all, and Scott (and Allison too, sometimes) becomes consumed by his love for her and it kind of overtakes everything.

What they did with Cora was pretty insulting tbh. They could've told us about her and shown her personality or at least shown us a whole new side of Derek while she was actually awake and they did none of that. She is Derek's sister, why do we learn nothing about them or see them interact? It felt like her showing up was solely to torture Derek. Which again...not cool.

And Peter...yea. I don't know how or why someone isn't killing that guy. Or why they suddenly seem to accept him; it's weird. And Boyd and Erica got the short end of the stick, and were just completely wasted. I don't have many feelings on Danny/Ethan or Lydia/Aiden other than the fact that they make pretty couples, but there's been very little actual screen-time between the characters. (Well, Danny/Ethan had more than Lydia/Aiden, I think. So there was a bit...but not much. Seems like they'll explore them more in 3B, but right now I don't care about them as couples.)

Maybe we'll be surprised. Or maybe I'll regret getting into the show; not sure which one is more likely.
