Yeah, in Spanish the default term is Gitano(a) (Gypsy?), even though if you read through dictionaries and stuff they do mention the Roma people.

Gitano(a) is not marked as a slur in the dictionary or, as far as I know, considered as such around Mexico and I never would have guessed it was in English if it wasn't for fandom secrets, actually.

F!S has steered me away from making horrific slur-related no-nos as an ESL, is what I'm saying. :0

O_o the only thing I've ever heard of Gitano in relation to is a clothing line.
