Re: Feminist Friendly Gaming
I dunno; I'd say you can be a fan of a game through watching playthroughs and reading wikis, especially if you're in it for the story (which Anita pretty much is). Some people would LIKE to play these games, but just suck terribly at them or can't afford to buy a new system for the game. I love the MMX series but have only had the chance to play 2-3 games myself.
THAT SAID.
If you're coming from such an angle, then you really MUST ensure you know the games well enough to comment on them. And nowadays you really have no excuse, because of longplays and wikis and more.
And honestly, I do not blame her for blocking comments. Sure, it doesn't allow for criticism, but since about 75% of the criticism will be horrible sexist bullshit. In actual fact, this entire situation was created BECAUSE of the disgusting sexist kneejerk; if nothing like that happened, then she'd get a little bit of money, make her videos, and generally just be a blip on the radar.
Except the massive controversy has now created a huge set of expectations on her and now it turns out she can't measure up to them.
