Yeah, I think they lost all pretense back in season three when Gob hugged Michael and got a huge boner. (He blamed it on "the bird in his pocket".... but even Michael knew that there was no bird in his pocket.)

Same with Linsday, and we got some proof of that in third season. It wouldn't surprise me if it were true for GOB too.

Season 4 gives us piles of evidence that poor GOB doesn't really "get" affection or friendship.

Well... there was that time Gob got a boner while hugging Michael, and Gob told Nellie the hooker that he wants nothing more than Michael's approval and love, and Michael is the only one he hugs in the most inappropriately clingy ways. (and iirc he's slapped his butt a few times too).

So yeah, I see why you'd think that OP. The show does have it's fair share of incest subplots, and Gob's clinginess towards Michael is definitely intentional.
