I'm heavily into the fandom and while not involved in the drama myself, they have some REALLY wanky members.

Off the top of my head I've seen:
- The Gypsy vs Gipsy slur wank...there's also Cherno wank, but idk why that
- Gipsy is a girl wank
- Mako is antifeminism
- Beschdal (sp?) test wank
- wank over timeframes because three canon source materials made at different times of production contradict. They don't like Word of God's clarification
- Racism, large portions of fandom will revive Chuck in fic (white aussie) but not Stacker (black british dude). There's been wank over this
- Wank over Chuck Hansen being dead, it's worse then Coulson. Do not got in the Chuck Hansen tag
- Literal internet petitions for the writers to make Chuck not dead
- Word of God is that Sasha is born in 98 and not 89, wanked about
- Hermann's wife is a model, anti-model wank happened. anti-anti model wank happened
- Science bros hashtag wank ACROSS FANDOMS. Avengers fandom don't want to share the tag
- Tendo was played by the wrong mixed race "POC"
- people don't give the Wei triplets enough love wank

That's all I can remember off the top of my head..

On the plus side, the fandom is great at sourcing fanart

Ohmygod you're making me so glad I'm not in the fandom. I loved the movie, stupid as it was in places, but felt it too... finished... for fic (I felt the same way about Evangelion, so maybe it's carryover from that?)

But holy shit. Is there anything that they're not wanking about?

Also, Cherno wank why? Can someone explain this plz?

i really don't know why the Cherno wank happened, something about the word Cherno and how it was written. But I don't know why, no-one explained why it's a 'bad word' or anything :/

I don't think anyone is wanking about...hmm the robot designs or armour designs...or the music, no-one's wanked about that

it's not a 'bad word' so much as the wrong one. to agree with the noun 'alpha' it should be 'cherniy' not 'cherno' - this is done properly in the russian dub

It's actually a very peaceful, friendly fandom, though. There are a couple of assholes, but a lot fewer than in most of my other fandoms. far easier to avoid them.

IDK as fandoms go it's the wankiest I've ever been, not saying I don't like the fandom because it's awesome in the opposite extreme but oh god does it ever wank over shit.

But I preemptively block repeat 'offenders' so most of it's gone from my view. But that list is what I've seen just lurking around, but it is a new fandom time so I'm being lenient and not participating in the wank. Figure the fandom is still finding its feet.
