tv tropes

I wish TV Tropes would ditch the whole "tropes" angle and just become a fandom directory/fanfiction recommendation archive

it works excellent in the sense of "hmm is this a thing I would like", unlike Wikipedia, and it's faster than reading reviews, and it already has some good "trigger warnings" sorta thing going on so

But reading through tropes is my favorite part!

but that wouldn't be the same website

why not just wish for a different website

a fanfic rec site that is sort of like tvtropes

Yes. You're right. TV Tropes should stop being about tropes, despite the fact that it was created to be about tropes and the word "tropes" is in its domain name.

Instead of trying to change the focus of existing websites, why don't you either create or advocate for the creation of a website that focuses on what you're looking for?

But even if you're using the site as a fandom directory, wouldn't the trope lists still be useful because they could help you avoid fandoms full of tropes you dislike?

That would definitely be better than TV Tropes but honestly it's probably not even worth trying to reform TV Tropes

TV Tropes delenda est

Eh, I dunno. The fanfic recs for my fandom are mostly terrible, so I don't really trust TVTropes' taste.
