Have you heard some music from her that I haven't? That woman couldn't write a decent song to save her life. Her range is shit too. She's an image, not a real singer.

"Being good at writing and singing pop songs" is not the same as "she is able to write good pop songs and is a great singer". Your songs don't have to be good to have a lot of appeal to a big group of people who will buy that music - it often is more difficult to sell "good music" than "mass compatible" music. Katy Perry and Tailor Swift are both popular and successful pop singers, but their songs are shit.
