I admit it, even though it sounds egotistical: I'm working on getting stuff published, and I dream about my work helping people. I dream about knowing that. Just one person who found it in their hour of need would make my entire life worthwhile. While maybe not as strongly, I'm sure many creators and artists feel this way, and I'm pretty sure it doesn't wear off when they get famous.
