I, too, was a fan of Janeway in my sexually-confused youth (though I was still pretty young when the show was airing so it was more like "was in awe of" rather than "lusted after")

Lusting after Janeway was a shared experience for a massive number of fannish lesbians my age. I never got it, but I read a lot of fic all the same. Then Red happened. Oh dear mother of divine god.

I've secretly started reading some really really oldschool Voy f/f, but imagining Red!Mulgrew as Janeway and it's totally working for me. Half remembered fics are getting weird reboots in my head. It's the weirdest experience I've ever had in 20 years in fandom, and there's nobody I can share it with!

Ha! When I saw she was cast in OITNB, I thought it was fantastic. She's like this classic lesbian crush and now she's in a show with loads of legit lady gayness. I'm so glad other people are pleased. :)
