Thoughts:

1. DC is trying to replicate Marvel's success with a shared movie universe for their superheroes, but I suspect they're going to do it badly and make it suck. One of the (many) things that makes me believe this is that they're not making a Batman movie to establish this version of the character in this universe before smashing him into Superman, which is most likely going to have the effect of turning it into a Superman movie (featuring Batman), rather than a true "crossover" movie.

2. Ben Affleck? They could do worse, I guess. They could also probably do better. Given that they're not taking the time to flesh out this iteration of Batman before they make the smash-them-together movie, I doubt Affleck will really have a fair shake at demonstrating whether he can do the role well.

1) Yep. I'm personally hoping that DC bombing will kill the trend, because while I'm okay with Marvel doing it (at the moment) I don't think I can handle it if everyone makes an attempt at very involved universes with 10+ movies. I have enough of a problem with sequels.

2) Ben Affleck wasn't bad in Paycheck, but I also think the movie would have been better if his role had been played by someone else. I suspect this movie will be something similar; his characters can be good when developed, but they almost always suck at first glance.

Yeah, I'm infinitely more worried about the script then the casting choice here.
