I would normally agree with this.

CC is a special case, in my book. Because she ripped off Pamela Dean and then claimed Dean gave her permission, which was a complete lie that just made the theft worse and my inner child just wants to thump her over the head with a hardback copy of The Odyssey.

Not only that, because of her, *ahem* borrowing of so many authors, there are noticeable clashes in tone and style, sometimes on the same page.

Well...yeah, but the secret still said "who normally have good taste" so it just felt as a whole like OP believed they got to decide what taste is.

I'm generally pretty sensitive to that sort of thing though. And again - I've never read CC (hence the disclaimer).
