Their worldview changed by a mere movie trailer? What sort of worldview did they have prior that it could be changed so easily?

Literally, WTF

(Anonymous) 2013-08-25 08:38 pm (UTC)(link)
People write fanfics and create fandoms around movie trailers so I'm not surprised anymore

In A World where people with short attention spans and that one guy who was in the movie about zoo animals with the I Like To Move It Move It song you vaguely remember as a child collide, one man's trailer combining features of Night At The Museum, wizarding world photography, Lonely Planet and Zoey Deshanel was embedded on tumblr. This Christmas it will validate your older teenager's/younger twentysomething's undeserved feelings of worldweariness while not actually challenging anything they currently believe in.

I don't know how to feel about Walter Mitty because, as one of the few people who've read the original story (but who haven't seen the first film adaptation) it looks too serious and too sober to really be Walter Mitty. The closest we get is a prosthetic on Ben Stiller's chin (I think.)

The movie does look good, though. I hope it doesn't disappoint.

The Danny Kaye film is great, worth checking out. It is quite funny. Walter Mitty is a great character.

I saw the trailer and my only response was "WTF is this movie about?"

(Anonymous) 2013-08-25 08:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Your exposure to the classics has clearly been neglected.

you must be bumping into astroturfers??

[Picture is Ben Stiller and the logotype of the movie "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty". Ben Stiller is a man with olive skin, short dark hair, and some light scratch-like wounds around his face. He is looking worriedly to the side, while wearing a dark blue tie, a light blue shirt and a light gray jacket or coat. He is standing next to a car on a street.]

I don't understand why this movie is getting so much hype. I watch the trailer and it wasn't half as epic or emotional as everyone is making it out to be. I've seen people say their world-view has been changed from watching the trailer. I just found it kind of... meh.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-26 06:34 am (UTC)(link)
I'm curious, because I was just reading the ASoIaF wiki trying to learn about the Martells and it said the have an 'olive' skin tone. Everyone tends to draw them as ambiguously brown. Then, here, you call Ben Stiller 'olive' skinned - how do you decide what descriptor to use for various skin tones? What even is olive skin then. So confused.

Anybody who has their worldview changed by anything starring Ben Stiller is a sad, sad person and you should feel sorry for them.

I am so sick of remakes.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-25 11:05 pm (UTC)(link)
My worldview was changed by the trailer. The last shred of hope I had for society was obliterated by the fact that a great classic was made into a Ben Stiller movie.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-25 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Hype will kill anything if you let it. Anyway, I saw the trailer before some other shitty film in the theater and it stuck with me pretty hardcore because I just got it. The whole daydreaming aspect and being made fun of and bullied by others for doing it. I relate to it already even though there were no words seen or spoken and I haven't even read the story it's based on.

Very interested in seeing it. I'm just hoping for a kind of Eternal Sunshine type of deal.

But why remake something that Danny Kaye already made perfectly?

Oh dear, is Stiller going to explain what makes musik musik?

So... this is Ben Stiller's Strange As Fiction? Looks okay, but not life changing. People are weird.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-26 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
The cinematography looks gorgeous, but there's nothing in the trailer that convinced me this movie will be good. People are seriously hyped for this mess?

(Anonymous) 2013-08-26 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
the only world-view the trailer changed for me is that i never realized how attractive ben stiller is....or how blue his eyes are. :O

(Anonymous) 2013-08-26 06:30 am (UTC)(link)
I have this weird feeling like this is actually some kind of viral marketing scheme to get us all to seek out the trailer to see 'what could be life changing omg?' I mean, who in marketing would care about f_s but still, it could be some kind of blogging 'street' team idk.

Just the trailer? Um...

I felt like a huge nerd when I figured out what it was by the second fantasy flash. I loved that story in middle school. ^^ I'll probably wait to get it from the library, but it's neat to see they're making another film version -- a full-length movie, to boot!

The trailer conveys the statement that if you don't start living your life now, then when?

And for some people, that's a powerful thing.
