the more you add the more complicated it gets.

it just becomes impossible to maintain plausibility. and that's one of the two things that's really interesting about crossovers to me: figuring out how to get the two universes to come together in a way that's plausible. and then seeing the characters play off each other. and if you get a million things together, well, it's usually going to lose that.

Absolutely. Especially in stories like the one I mentioned in my comment where the whole point seems to be to get in references to as many fandoms as possible rather than writing a good story.
