This! One of my peeves is when people keep parroting medieval stereotypes that are actually wrong.

One of my favorite facts: In medieval Wales, a woman could divorce her husband for having bad breath. This tells us a couple of interesting things. First, women were not nearly as oppressed as people think, divorce was relatively kosher (meaning religious dogma didn't hold as strongly as people think), and bad breath was not accepted as just a fact of peasant life.

Yeah, I mean, didn't women also brew the beer and direct servants on how to make a feast? I've also read that prisoners were occasionally led through a part of town and they could ask for alms and attend family events and the like.
