Re: Phobias

One of my childhood friends got a dog when we were around twelve, and she would just not accept or understand why I didn't want to visit her anymore. The one time she managed to talk me into visiting and sleeping over I was too terrified to even go to the bathroom because the dog would be standing on the other side of her bedroom door wanting to be let in. And then she actually let it in despite my telling her that I didn't want to be in the same room as the dog.

I couldn't even sleep because I was afraid that she'd let the dog in at night, like she'd do with her cats even though she knew that I didn't like that.

(She's also the reason why I'm slightly apprehensive about cats. It's not as bad as the dog phobia, but I absolutely do not want them anywhere near me when I'm sleeping. Which I repeatedly told my friend and she promised me she wouldn't let the cats in, only for me to be woken up by a cat walking over the bed. That said, it sucks that the landlord didn't let you keep the cat. Maybe it's because I'm neither a dog nor a cat person, but it seems kind of silly to me to allow one and not the other. And why cats wouldn't rather be the allowed pets, but that might be the phobia talking.)

It's not - it normally *is* cats being allowed instead of dogs if they only let people have one or the other [at least, where I live].

With my landlord it was cats and dogs that weren't allowed, he had no problem with the snakes and at one point I had 28 of them in the bedsit (to be fair 13 of them were babies courtesy of my two female and one male cornsnakes and most of the snakes were cornsnake size or smaller)
