Yea, I only ever hear it from other internationals. I tried too a few times. It didn't work out.

I've used it on the west coast and people didn't really seem to bat an eye. If I called a school like UVic or UBC 'college' though, I'd likely get funny looks.

Yea I got some funny looks for saying "college," too. A Canadian friend finally explained to me the wrongs of my ways. :P

So far as "uni" goes, sounds like I just haven't met these like-minded people of which you speak!
