Or maybe they want to share it with other people who have the kink and instead get a flood of, "Ew this kink exists and is hurting my delicate sensibilities!"

It's one thing to let the author know they should, you know, warn for an out-there kink. It's another thing entirely to call them gross because you don't have the same kink. That's not criticism. That's you not being able to keep your fucking mouth shut because something exists that doesn't get you off. So therefore, it must be bad.
