wasn't that the point?

(Anonymous) 2013-08-28 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
Was it? I thought she was chosen because she's a popular comedic actress at the moment, and she can pull faces that vaguely resemble Lucille's.

I don't get why people like Kristen Wiig in general. She's not funny, and I was so glad when she left Saturday Night Live.

+1

I liked Bridesmaids and all but, dear God, was I happy when she left SNL. By the end, every single one of her characters was the exact same one, just in different clothing.

I don't find her entertaining either.

[Picture is the actress Kristen Wiig playing a young Lucille Bluth from the TV and internet show "Arrested Development". She is a woman with light skin and medium-long dark hair dyed dark blonde from the middle and downwards. She has gray eyes and is pouting wide-eyed at something next to a kitchen's cabinet, wearing a purple blouse.]

I don't get why so many fans loved Kristen Wiig's portrayal of young-Lucille Bluth. She played Lucille like an awful parody.

I know. It was just terrible.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-27 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, those scenes were awful.

...isn't that what it was?

(Anonymous) 2013-08-28 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
I doubt it... it kills the comedy. Makes it look like a cheap attempt at their own brand of humor.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-28 08:48 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, if it was an intentionally bad parody then they should have made that clearer to the viewers because that went right over my head. And if reviews and forum posts are anything to go by, it went over a lot of other peoples' heads too.

I was bothered more by the fact that young Lucille's actress didn't have the right eye color, but maybe that was the point? I can't recall if the series completely abandoned the documentary feel that it had in the first season, but maybe these were intended to be reenactments of what actually happened, and that's why the scenes are kind of weird?

i don't know if it was meant to be a parody or not, but holy shit the expressions she kept pulling were painful to look at. it was like watching a bad SNL skit.
