Does any kind soul have an AO3 invite they'd be willing to part with? Because I'm one of the anons that's been struggling with a fic for months, and I think it would help if some of my other stuff got some more exposure than just the LJ fic comms I posted to back when I first published over there.

And I feel really self-conscious about self-pimpage in general fannish comms like this one though, I've been really fortunate to see other people pimping my stuff, and hugs and kisses to you wonderful people). Plus, I haven't migrated to DW yet, but maybe I should...

And to keep it general-commenty, where do you post/how do you pimp your work, FandomSecrets?

Cause last I heard they were actually responding fast now.

i requested access this way and it took maybe 3, 4 days? it took as long as they projected it would. i didn't think the wait was that bad but i've heard other people had to wait several weeks/months for theirs at certain points.

Yeah, I first requested about a year ago and had never heard back. So I gave up on it.

oh yikes, that blows. i didn't know it was that shitty for some people. maybe i just got lucky.

i think the other folks have you covered with invites but if not i can send you one.

As for general pimpage, I just post on LJ comms

I'd totally give you one if I had it. Right at the mo, I don't, but if the AO3 mods are nice, then I'll send you one when I receive them.

As for me posting and self-pimpage, my fic journal is

kelincihutan. And to pimp a fic, I post it to all three of those places and post links to my fic journal on at least one fanfic community for the fandom in question every time something new goes up. It's a lot of tedious linking but it gets the word out.

the only (fan)fic i've ever worked on (i'm not counting that embarrassing yugioh one from when i was 12 either) is from portal 2, and there's a pretty decent sized fanbase on tumblr. i posted the link to my AO3 and tagged it but i don't think anybody who read the fic was actually redirected from tumblr. idk i haven't really promoted my work anywhere aside from that one feeble attempt lmao, i feel kind of weird asking/encouraging people to check out my writing. i just wait for people to stumble across it on their own. :x

Oh and, I post to ff.net and ao3, that's it, really. I link to things from my tumblr, and I occasionally write for kink memes and then don't get around to cross-posting/archiving.

I need to get one just so I can read private fics. But I don't know how stringent they are and don't want to take an invite away from a writer.
