I have a lot of younger online friends, and when I was younger, I had a lot of older online friends. It happens. You're being honest about your age and you don't have any ulterior motives. If they think you're a creep, they can very well cut off contact with you just as easily as you can with them.

Personally, when I was younger, it was really comforting to have older friends who had more experience than I did, but were still on my level and could give me advice or just sympathize when things went to shit. They gave me perspectives I couldn't get from my peers, and that was really awesome.

The thing is, the more you think about it, the bigger deal you're gonna make of it, and that's what's gonna make it weird. You're focused on numbers and not on the idea that they're just people who have the same interests you do and just like talking to you. Just ignore it and don't make a big deal out of it.

yeah see i talk to this other kid who's a year younger than the guy i mentioned in an above comment and i think he appreciates my input re: college and stuff? it's kinda hard to tell, he's not very forthcoming with affection so idk if he even pays attention to what i say. but i know i've appreciated people who've reassured me about future things through their own experience, and i know i've reassured people younger than me in this way as well.

but you're right, the more i think about it the more it bothers me. it's not really the numbers that bother me personally, it's knowing that they probably bother other people. they've just stigmatised it for me now. i guess i shouldn't care what they think tho
