Then there is no issue here. Despite how paranoid our culture can get with the THINK-OF-THE-CHILDRUNS!!!1eleventy-one, talking to people - even young people - is not against the law.
Also, we're not talking about hanging around the playground talking to eight year olds because that's the only level of conversation that appeals to you. 16-17 year olds are pretty close to being adults, many of them think and talk pretty much more like adults and fandom is for everyone.
Hell, I've had some fun conversations with my twelve year old nephew about Star Trek. :D

but yeah i like the way you think and i've come to realise i really don't have a problem with the stigma as long as the people i talk to don't either, everyone else can eat it
