Ableism aside, as I said, "lame" doesn't just imply "not good." It implies "weak." Calling a movie or a book "lame" implies that it is "weak"--that is, that there wasn't a lot of effort put into the creation of it and that it falls apart easily under the slightest bit of scrutiny. There's plenty of criticism you can level at GoT, but "weak" isn't really one of them. The series itself is very well-crafted, with a lot of effort made to not phone anything in. The books are meticulously planned out, and better-written than most of the other pop-fiction that could potentially be called "lame."


Ableism not aside, it's a pretty stupid word that reeks of the 90's and makes folks uncomfortable, both of which are good enough reasons to find a better, and hopefully more accurate, word to express you displeasure with media.

Lame, when used as an adjective for things that suck (albeit in 80s surfer vernacular, but whatever), does not, has not, has never, and will never, make me "uncomfortable" and I am a PWD.

So kindly get off the unicorn, you sparklyspeshulsnowflake SJW, and apply "ableism" to a context where it actually, you know, exists. For instance! How about the ableist oppression inherent in TELLING persons with disabilities what we are and are not supposed to find "uncomfortable" ?? (Not to mention the one time I got dogpiled by the very people claiming they want to "help me" for pointing this out to them.)

Because, from where I'm sitting, you people making a big deal (and dogpiling, not to mention the ugly, childish overuse of profanity that makes all of you look like a twelve-year-old's hive mind -- with roughly the same IQ/EQ scores as a twelve-year-old Borg collective) of people using the word "lame" to describe inanimate objects and/or intellectual property, and/or social situations, is, well. Lame.

I have yet to see a real, live, PWD (and not one who has internalized the codependence inherent in the welfare state; as far as I'm concerned, they may as well be TABs because they've adopted the SJW mindset) be "uncomfortable" with the word lame. In fact, every time this discussion/wank starts up on F!S, at least one PWD pipes up and makes the very same points I'm making. (I guess that means I'm the one making the point this time round. Somebody else want to pick up the TAB (heh heh) next time, please?)

You want to fight oppression, little child? Bully for you! Why don't you start with something like universal access in all workplaces? Or NON-affirmative action employment/employability training? Dismantling of two-tier citizenship and abolition of the cradle-to-grave welfare state?

Because THOSE things I have listed above, my dear, are far, FAR more important to PWD in the real world and outside of the Internet, than someone, disabled or temporarily-able-bodied, using the word "lame." In any context. EVEN when referring to a PWD.
