That post shows quite a lot of misunderstanding about how Japanese characters use pronouns to imply personality traits rather than actual gender. You're entitled to believe whatever you want though, just remember that it's not the absolute truth and a 5 minutes wikipedia search doesn't mean you know shit about Japanese culture.

Yeah, but to people that don't know anything in depth about Japan (like me and most people in fandom/on the planet) it becomes your word against theirs and we don't know who to believe in the end. Like I'm pretty sure the person that made that knows more about Japan than a wiki search, and you may also be in that boat, but unless I go live in Japan for 10 years I'll never know who's right. You can disagree, but all I have is a shrug.

And I linked the post to show Isayama's actual answer on Nanaba. You may quibble with the angle of the post overall, but Isayama's answers still exist and he addressed this issue.

Am I the only one who doesn't get why Marco, of all characters, is so popular to depict as a PoC?

Don't get me wrong; I have nothing against these alternative interpretations of characters' races. It's just that in Marco's case, it feels like it would carry unfortunate implications along the lines of "black dude dies first", that's all. =/

For me, Marco's hair looks a lot like my brother's, so he reads black to me, idk. Like that close-cropped/butch-cut thing.
