No means no. If someone refuses to understand that, they don't respect you and your boundaries and they aren't your friends.

Wow.
Why is this such a big deal?
They wanted you to watch some movies with them so that they could maybe share the same interest with you. They wanted you to like what they like because it seems to be important for them. Maybe you matter. Maybe you matter so much that they kept asking and insisting. See it that way.
It's not like they forced you to go against your deepest believes. It's just a f****** movie.
No wonder everyone's feeling alone these times...
Watching movies with friends is something that shoulnd't come as hard to do. It should be extremely easy and carefree even if you don't like the movie... because they're your friends. Or maybe they aren't your real friends if it really is too much to do.

This.

I don't see why it's a big deal that your friends want you to share in something that's obviously influential/important to them. It means that they want you to enjoy something that they enjoyed.

Heaven forbid they want you to have something in common with them. If you try and don't like it, you haven't lost anything, I promise.

Why is it such a big deal if someone doesn't want to watch something? And tricking them into watching it is very uncool

Perhaps those people complaining about being alone are such because they don't recognise boundaries and keep pushing when they're told no. Respect your friends of you're not going to have any
