Hyperbole is one thing, but being hyperbolic to the point that you're using ultraviolence as a rhetorical technique is probably not the best

Never really understood people's upset at this one. Calling colourful curses down on people for rhetorical effect is a universal humans have been doing since forever. How can you read that as a threat or a call to arms?

I don't think it's a threat or a call to arms, I think it's disproportionate and overblown. I don't have a problem with hyperbole or colorful curses, but I do think that you should on some level match the level of curse you use to what you're cursing, and if you want to damn people to die in horrifying pain, it better be something damn serious you're cursing about. Not "disagrees with me about a video game." And going to that well just seems to me to inflame things needlessly, and to go out of all proportion.
